AI personal assistant

Ask your to-do system – the AI assistant that knows your tasks

What’s due today? What should I do next? Did I already note that down somewhere? Instead of scrolling through lists, you ask Todowa – spoken or typed. The AI searches your tasks and answers in the right form: as a list of matches, as a short assessment with the tasks below it, or as a list of possible duplicates you merge with one click.

How to ask your to-do list a question

The icon in the style of the Todowa logo, with a microphone, sits at the top centre on your phone and in the header bar on your computer. Tap it to open “Ask your to-do system”.

  • Type a question and press Enter – or tap one of the example questions
  • Tap the microphone and speak: Todowa listens until you tap “Done” – pauses to think don’t end anything
  • Tasks in the result open on top of the window; close them (on your phone with Back) and you’re back at the result
  • For a list of matches, “Open in search” shows all of them in search

Three kinds of answer – the AI picks the right one

The AI reads your question and decides what the answer should look like:

  • Just matches: if you want to find tasks – “What’s due this week?”, “Where’s the task about the quote?” – you get the matching list, like a search result.
  • AI text with tasks: if you ask for an assessment – “What should I do next?”, “How is my project going?” – the AI answers in a few sentences and shows the tasks it relies on below.
  • Possible duplicates: for “Are there duplicate tasks?” Todowa shows groups of very similar tasks that you merge with one click – description, comments, subtasks and tags come along.

Questions Todowa understands

The window shows examples you can tap. They show what works:

  • “What’s due today?” · “What’s overdue?” · “What’s coming up this week?”
  • “What should I do next?”
  • “What did I finish last week?” · “How much did I get done this month?”
  • “Which tasks did I hand over to others?” · “What’s waiting on others?”
  • “Which tasks have been lying around for a long time?” · “What has high priority but no due date?”
  • “Did I note anything about taxes?” · “Are there duplicate tasks?”

Answers from your tasks, not from the AI’s memory

The AI turns your question into a filter – open or done, due date, project, assignee, time range, priority, keyword – and Todowa uses it to search your tasks. So the list of matches comes straight from the app. For an assessment the AI only reads the tasks that were found and names the ones it refers to.

The AI catches mishearings in spoken questions as well as it can: if a word sounds like one of your projects, that’s probably what you meant.

Ask by voice – on your phone and your computer

Todowa transcribes spoken questions just like voice input: with AI speech recognition that gets the names of your projects, people and tags as hints – or, where it isn’t available, with your browser’s speech recognition. The recognised question then appears in the field, so you can see what was understood.

Prefer to stay quiet? You can always type, even in the middle of listening via “Type”.

Voice to-do app

The learning system: anonymous and only with your consent

After a question, Todowa shows a reduced version of it below the result – without names, amounts, projects and without any link to your account, just the kind of question. “What’s still open with Anna about the quote?” becomes something like “Open tasks related to a person”. The AI writes this version; you see it before you decide.

Exactly this version is saved only if you tap “Yes, store it”. “No, not this one” discards it, “Don't ask again” switches the offer off – you can switch it back on in the same window.

Similar questions from many people form clusters, and these turn into new kinds of answer and new features, like the duplicate search.

Who receives your question?

Your question goes to the AI together with the names of your projects – Claude by Anthropic or your own AI endpoint. For an assessment it also gets the matching tasks: title, status, due date, project, priority and the start of the description.

Spoken questions go to OpenAI for transcription; the recording isn’t stored. Without AI speech recognition your browser converts speech to text and Todowa only receives the text. Details are in the privacy policy.

Why we’re building Todowa

Your tasks belong to you – not to your tools.

Tasks are spread across many tools, and none of them sees the whole picture. We’re building Todowa as an AI-first to-do system that fits into the ones you already use: tasks show up in your Notion database, in Asana, in Todoist and in Google Calendar, and AI matches up what belongs together.

Our goal for Todowa

What “Ask your to-do system” can’t do yet

So you know what you’re getting:

  • It answers but doesn’t change anything: moving, completing or creating tasks isn’t possible here – only merging duplicate tasks, when you click. You add new tasks by voice with the plus on your phone.
  • Every question stands on its own. Follow-ups like in a chat (“and tomorrow?”) aren’t understood.
  • A list of matches shows at most 60 tasks; for an assessment the AI reads up to 60 matching tasks. It doesn’t read comments or attachments, and only the start of descriptions.
  • The AI may misread a question or not recognise a project. Asking more precisely helps, for example with the project’s name.
  • Todowa doesn’t talk back – the answer appears as text. Spoken questions are recognised in German or English, depending on the app language.
  • Every question counts towards the monthly AI allowance, a spoken one also the AI speech recognition. With your own AI endpoint the question doesn’t count, the AI speech recognition still does.

Frequently asked questions

What is “Ask your to-do system”?

An AI assistant in Todowa that you ask about your own tasks – by voice or text. Depending on the question it answers with a list of matches, a short assessment with the relevant tasks, or possible duplicates to merge.

How is it different from search?

In search you enter keywords and filters yourself. Here you ask in full sentences and the AI builds the filter – including for questions a list alone can’t answer, such as “What should I do next?”. A list of matches opens in search with one click.

Can the AI change my tasks?

No. It reads and answers. The only exception is duplicate tasks – and they’re only merged when you click “Merge”.

What does the learning system store?

Only the reduced version of your question that Todowa shows you – without names, amounts, projects and without a link to your account – and only if you tap “Yes, store it”. “Don't ask again” switches the offer off.

Is it available on the computer?

Yes. On the computer the icon sits in the header bar, on your phone at the top centre. You can speak on both if the browser allows the microphone; otherwise you type the question.

What does it cost?

“Ask your to-do system” is included in every plan and counts towards the monthly AI allowance; the free plan includes an AI allowance.
